Breast Screening

All women in the UK aged between 50 and 70 are routinely invited every three years to have a test to detect early breast cancer. The mobile X-ray unit is based at Market Drayton Primary Care Centre. Female patients at Hodnet Medical Centre  who are eligible for breast screening will receive invitations to attend sometime in the month of May.

The earlier breast cancer is detected, the better the chance of a cure. The breast screening test is called mammography which is a specialised X-ray of your breasts. If you are over 70, you are still entitled to breast screening on the NHS every three years but you will not be sent a routine appointment - you will need to make your own appointment by contacting the Breast Screening Office on 01743 261080..
